My clinical approach to counseling those with anxiety disorders is to first educate and seek to normalize the anxious modern human experience. Learning how to categorize your anxiety as either Existential, Normal, and Neurotic is a great place to start. With the foundation of education we then move into assessment of the significance of the anxiety dysfunction in your life, through both in-session exploration and psychometric assessment. After establishing a baseline of the measured impact anxiety has on your life and comprehensive integrative lifestyle assessment, the creative work of establishing coping skills for your anxiety begins. Inconvenient as it may seem, there is no “one size fits all” approach to counseling anxiety. Therefore, in an effort to increase your sense of capability, you and I will work to establish targeted behavioral goals related to exposure, expression, evidence seeking, mindful orientation, movement and grounding. All in a hopes that you can eventually express a level of empowerment that allows you to succeed in the face of any anxiety life may throw your way.
