*I was not paid for this

Lululemon has done a great thing with their new ad campaign “This is Yoga”.  In an effort to bring yoga out from under the esoteric studio realms and cliques of elitist wellness chasers, this ad demonstrates that yoga is most effectively used a framework for progression and self-awareness and not just some trendy exercise routine. You do not have to ever step foot into a yoga studio to utilize the power of yoga. Both my clinical and personal theory is that by exploring your relationships to the mentioned behaviors in this ad campaign, we have a comprehensive guide to uncovering areas for mental health progression, healing and personal transformation. Due to this posted ad being quick and hard to follow I have bulleted that 13 behaviors/qualities that I would challenge all my existing and future clients to reflect upon. Next to each bullet, there are questions to ask yourself to guide a future exploration into how you engage with these behaviors and concepts. Be as honest and transparent as you can, take notes AND as always, Take Care of Yourself!

  • Letting Go: What are you holding onto? What purpose does holding onto this thing/person/ideal do for you?

  • Breath: When was the last time you took a deep full breath in and a complete exhale out? Do it.

  • Meditation: It does not have to be sitting in lotus and reciting a mantra, it could be washing the dishes.

  • Non-violence: Where are you being violent, not only physically but emotionally and cognitively?

  • Self-discovery: What actions of are taking towards looking into the aspects and qualities that make who you, you.

  • Self-discipline: Challenge yourself to bring a daily commitment to something you don’t necessarily want to do and see how that perspective changes.

  • Devotion: If you have an energetic charge of 100% everyday, where is the bulk of that energy spent? That is where your devotion lies, what does this say about you?

  • Joy: When was the last time you lost track of time doing something fun? Do it some more!

  • Compassion: Practice the perspective of others daily AND take it easy of yourself.

  • Humility: Where can you admit ignorance or mistake?

  • Concentration: Concentration can grow exponentially when coupled with a meditation practice.

  • Acceptance: Towards the things you cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference.
